News #2 - ICS Teacher Art Show

Every year, the art teachers at ICS put on an art show of our own artwork in the CAF Gallery. This year, we made an on-line show because we are all at home now.

Lesson #2 - Grades K-5

Signs of HOPE!

Did you know a RAINBOW is made when the joyful sun shines light through gloomy rain clouds? The RAINBOW is a sign of HOPE even in storms!

Children around the world have been posting signs of HOPE including a rainbow and encouraging words in their windows and homes. Make a sign to encourage your family and neighbors!

Here is one in Thai!

**Thank you, Koong Ingkasuwan, for making this example :)

Sign made by Mrs. Asia (Middle School Art Teacher) & Everest (K4)

Materials

Any you have!

Task

1. Make a sign to encourage someone during this time at home! It can be for your family near or far, medical workers who are helping sick people, people who are sick or anyone else you can think of!

2. Include an encouraging picture (like a rainbow!) and some cheerful words (any language!)

3. Post your sign for others to see. It can go on your window, door, gate, family living room, or on the computer (email, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

Here's a fun idea for how to add a RAINBOW to your sign!

Step 1

Color strips of color to make a rainbow.

Step 2

Color black over the rainbow

Step 3

Scratch the black in a design to reveal your rainbow!

Lesson #3 - Grades 3-5

Design a CHAIR with MOMA

The MOMA (Modern Museum of Art in NYC) has put out a webpage full of modern art-based activities for families HERE.

Follow these steps to do one of my favorite ones (If you have a hard time seeing the directions, click the link above).
